The show's ratings nosedived after the track of Ishita killing her own son Adi backfired, and people started trolling Ekta and the show on internet. Despite makers' best effort to revive the ratings, the soap did not show any sign of revival. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, based on Manju Kapur's novel Custody, ruled the rating charts for all these years, but all of a sudden started getting very low ratings. Ekta's other shows Naagin 3, Kumkum Bhagya, and Kundali Bhagya are still going strong. The show revolved around the love story of a Tamil dentist Ishita Iyer and a Punjabi CEO Raman Bhalla. Their love for Raman's daughter Ruhi bring them together.
